Getting involved with your local paramedic society is a great way to lead your university student body to do great things. Paramedic university societies are an important identity for SPA. They are responsible for local social and professional development opportunities, and provide students with a direct link to the national professional body, Paramedics Australasia (PA). Paramedic societies are not governed by PA or SPA. Each has its own identity, and together we work to great a positive and engaging environment for students across Australia. As the number of paramedic courses grows, so does the number of societies being established. Not only do we encourage you get involved, we particularly encourage students to develop local societies where they may otherwise not exist. The support network for paramedic student organisations is far and wide. The SPA National Coordinator supports these organisations by providing guidance, direction and national support on issues affecting the student body. The SPA National Coordinator can be contacted on

. Each society generally has a select number of executive roles which are not limited to the president, treasurer, secretary, social planner and professional development officer. The societies are also responsible for electing a representative (existing or new role) that sits on the SPA Executive Committee meetings. This role is fundamental, as it ensures clear communication pathways from the local student body to the national professional body. To get involved with your local society we ask that you keep your eyes peeled around campus for important notices. Most societies hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for student wanting to get involved. For any information we encourage to contact your local society below: To learn more about the Australian Paramedic Student Societies, click here.
